St. Paul's Lutheran Church
Columbia, South Carolina
A historic downtown church, last renovated in the early 1970's, began an interior renovation project to update the existing sanctuary. Through design and careful investigative demolition, original hardwood floors were uncovered and stained; original wood mullions at the stained glass windows were stripped of layers of paint and stained, and the original pews were refurbished in their entirety. New carpet runners, new custom fabric pew cushions and kneelers, and a refreshed paint scheme all provide an updated look. Finally, a custom Venetian Plaster treatment at the chancel provides a tastefully understated backdrop to the intricate altar and restored rose window.
