M. Alison Martin, Associate AIA

Intern Architect

Alison Martin earned her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, with a minor in History, from Clemson University in 2013, graduating summa cum laude. She recently completed the the Clemson’s Master of Architecture program, receiving her graduate degree in the spring of 2016.

As a graduate student, Alison was awarded an AIA SC Fellowship for the spring of 2015, and served as a School of Architecture Student Senator for Clemson’s Graduate Student Government outside of the studio.

Previously, Alison worked with 1x1 Design between her undergraduate and graduate degree, where she also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Columbia Section of the American Institute of Architects.  Prior to working with 1x1 Design, she worked with Clemson University Facilities and the Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation.

In her graduate studies, Alison is worked as the Health and Safety Officer for Clemson University’s entry into the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2015 Solar Decathlon competition, titled Indigo Pine. Through this experience, Alison not only worked with innovative building systems and materials, but managed construction safety and logistics of a full house mock-up built in Clemson during the past spring semester. She traveled wiith the team to Irvine, California for the competition in October 2015, where the team constructed a second version of Indigo Pine along with entries from 15 other schools from across the nation.

Originally from Lugoff, Alison is excited to return to 1x1 Design, and to be back in the Midlands for a few short weeks before heading to Los Angeles to get a "real job".
